The Sutro Baths of San Francisco were at one point a large privately-owned swimming pool complex that burned down in the 1960s and abandoned. It was built by wealthy entrepreneur and former major of SF, Adolf Sutro, which included 7 swimming pools — 1 fresh water, 6 salt water bath ranging in temperature — a museum of artifacts from his collection during his travels, a huge concert hall seating 8000, and an ice skating rink.
The photos above are the remains of the locale and can be visited by the public. This is just north of the Cliff House restaurant on the Great Hwy. Free parking is available on very close by at the entrance to the baths. After exploring the baths. a scenic hike on Lands End Trail to the Northeast of the baths is a nice way of rounding out the visit.
